ZTCC Pune Observes ‘Naman Diwas’ to Honor 70 Organ Donor Families
Pune, 20th July 2025: In an emotionally charged and deeply respectful ceremony, the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC), Pune, marked its 12th annual “Naman Diwas” by saluting the silent heroes of society—organ donors and their families.
Held in the presence of Col. Bhushan Oak and popular radio personality RJ Sho Sho Shonali, the event paid heartfelt tribute to the selfless individuals who chose to give life even in their final moments. This year, 70 families of deceased organ donors were felicitated for their courageous and compassionate decisions during times of immense personal grief.
“To those who gave the priceless gift of life, we offer our heartfelt salute,” said a ZTCC official, echoing the sentiment that defined the day.
Organ donation, often described as the ultimate act of humanity, has the power to transform grief into hope. Families who lose a loved one and still choose to donate their organs give others a chance to live—a decision rooted in immense strength and empathy.
The ceremony brought together ZTCC members, transplant coordinators, medical professionals, and organ recipients, creating a collective moment of gratitude and reflection. Stories of survival, resilience, and generosity were shared—reminding everyone present of the life-affirming impact of organ donation.

RJ Shonali, addressing the audience, remarked, “These donor families have turned sorrow into strength, and their decisions continue to inspire thousands.”
ZTCC Pune has been consistently working to spread awareness about the need for organ donation. Events like Naman Diwas serve not just as a tribute but also as a public platform to advocate for a stronger, more informed organ donation culture in India.
“Every year, Naman Diwas reminds us that even in loss, there can be giving. These families have shown the world that love doesn’t end with death—it lives on in another’s heartbeat,” said Col. Oak during his address.
As organ donation continues to face awareness challenges in India, initiatives like this annual observance not only honor the past but sow seeds for a more compassionate future. The event concluded with a silent prayer and a resounding applause in memory of the departed donors—each of whom now lives on through the lives they saved.
