Bhoomipujan of Rail Coach Factory at Latur on 31.3.2018

Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra will be the Chief Guest and Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways and Coal, Government of India will preside over the function of Bhoomipujan for Rail Coach Factory at Latur being held at District Sports Complex, Latur on 31.03.2018 at 5.00 pm.

Shri Sambhaji Patil–Nilangekar, Hon’ble Minister of Labour, Earthquake Rehabiliation, Skill Development, Ex-servicemen Welfare, Maharashtra and Guardian Minister, Latur, Shri Suresh Nivrutti Pawar, Hon’ble Mayor, Latur, Dr. Sunil Gaikwad, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Shri Amit Deshmukh, Hon’ble MLA, Shri Trayambakrao Bhise, Hon’ble MLA have been invited as Guests of Honour on this occasion. Shri D.K. Sharma, General Manager, Central Railway and other senior officers will also be present on the occasion.

Indian Railways has proposed to set up a Rail coach manufacturing facility at Latur with initial expected cost of Rs 500 crores. The decision of setting up a coach factory in Latur was taken in January this year. Government of Maharashtra and Ministry of Railways has signed MOU on 20.2.2018.

Salient features of the Project:

· Phase -I : Manufacturing of 250 coaches per year.

· Phase – II : Enhancement of capacity to 400 coaches per year.

· Land Area: 153.88 Hectares.

· Expected Cost: Rs.500 Cr.

· Site location: 2.5 Kms. from Harangul station which is also the nearest station.

· Factory being constructed by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL).

· Land survey completed.

· Factory layout developed.

· State of the art manufacturing facility.

· Sheds and buildings shall comply Green norms.

· Use of solar energy, efficient LED lights and solar tube lighting.

· Efficient use of water: Water recycling plant, Rain water harvesting system.

· Expected job (Direct & Indirect) Potential : 25,000-30,000

· A MOU for setting up of Coach Manufacturing Factory signed between Indian Railways & Govt. of Maharashtra on 20.02.2018.
