Eco-friendly Sanitary Napkins and Personal Hygiene Kits distributed to 400 tribal girls

Pune, January 17, 2019: FICCI FLO, Pune, a woman centric organization has achieved yet another milestone in empowering women hygienically. Launching a project called ‘WAH’ (Women and Hygiene), the organization has distributed Eco-friendly Sanitary Napkins and Personal Hygiene Kits to 400 girls from tribal area of Maharashtra.

This project was jointly implemented by FICCI FLO, Pune, Rotary Club of Pune Cantonment and the Tribal Development Department, Maharashtra. The distribution of kits was done recently in a women’s hostel in Bhosari. MP Vandana Chavan, was the Chief Guest for the program. These Hygiene Kits are donated by ‘Days for Girls’- a Canadian Organisation. The speciality of these kits is that it consists of environment friendly reusable sanitary napkins that can be used for three years.

Sangeeta Lalwani, Chairperson, FICCI FLO, Pune, Ayush Prasad, Assistant Collector and Project Officer Integrated Tribal Development Project, Ghodegaon, Pankaj Apte, President of Rotary Club of Pune Cantonment, Usha Poonawala, Project Chairperson, Sameer Rupani, Co- Director, Service Projects, Rotary were present among the dignitaries for the event.

FICCI FLO Is a pan India all women organization. FICCI FLO- Pune, through its association with Tribal Development Department, Government of Maharashtra, has ventured into various initiatives for the betterment of underprivileged women. The organization is also a part of the initiatives like comprehensive health check-up camps for over 6,000 children with treatment and surgeries.

Few days ago, tribal girls also participated in a marathon run named FLO Half Marathon, with heads of corporates and CEOs. This run saw a participation of over 12,000 people.
Tribal department also has participation in an initiative FLO Pune Haat which provides a platform for rural artisans to meet urban designers
