Pune: PMC officers to be quarantined after husband of woman member found COVID positive

Pune, May 27, 2020: A meeting at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Monday was attended by the mayor, office bearers, and officials of the municipal corporation to work out a strategy to stop the coronavirus spread. About 35 persons were present at the meeting. Later in the night, COVID report of the husband of a woman member who had attended the meeting came positive. Since then the process of collecting swabs of her close family members has begun. Now her close contacts are being traced for quarantine and swab testing.

 

According to officials, the meeting was held with Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, House Leader Dheeraj Ghate, Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad, Additional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal, and some department heads at the PMC building in Shivajinagar on Monday afternoon. The 30-35 office bearers who attended the meeting are in terrified now. They accused the woman office-bearer saying she should not have come for the meeting.

All the office bearers PMC including Mayor Mohol are rushing to the aid of the people. Due to this, small programs are also being organized in their respective wards. There are complaints that office bearers and corporators are gathering crowds for this. This led to the infection of a corporator and her husband in Yerwada earlier. This also created fear among the municipal corporation office bearers and politicians.
