Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day Advocacy in Pune

Pune – The Indian Institute of Education (IIE), Pune has organised a ‘National Symposium on Universal Health Coverage Day’ on the occasion of Universal Health Coverage Day on 12th December (Tuesday).

Two years ago on 12 December, the United Nations unanimously endorsed a resolution urging governments to ensure universal access to health care without financial hardship. On 12 December 2018, a global coalition will call for universal health coverage to be a cornerstone of the sustainable development agenda and a priority for all nations by 2030. Global Health Strategies, UHC 2030, World Health Organization and the World Bank Group, and several other organizations are part of this coalition. Hon. Prof.Mrunalini Fadnavis, Vice Chancellor, Solapur University will inaugurate and grace the occasion in the presence of Dr N.S. Umarani, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Dr Dhanraj Mane, Director, Higher Education, Govt. of Maharashtra and Dr Satish Pawar, Additional Mission Director, National Health Mission, Govt. of Maharashtra.

Dr. Sanjay Mehendale, Formerly Additional Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi, GOI, will deliver the inaugural address on the occasion. Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Yeravdekar, Dean, Faculty of Health & Biological Sciences, Symbiosis University will deliver Presidential Address on the Theme of UHC Day.

Veteran Actor Indian theatre and film and psychiatrics, will address on “Enhancing Public Perception of UHC Day Advocacy”. Dr. Jayasing Kalake, Member Secretary, IIE will convene the Programme. Prof. Manoj Kar, is the Organiser of this National Symposium, will highlight the ‘Priorities for achieving objectives set on Universal Health Coverage’.

Dr Samiran Panda, Director, National AIDS Research Institute, Indian Council of Medical Research, Pune will deliver the valedictory address in the presence of Prof. Arun Adsul, former Pro-VC, SPPU, Pune, who will be the Chair the session. Dr. K.K. Tripathy, Director, VAMNICOM, Govt. of India, Pune will be the Chief Guest of the event.
