11 Dead, Several Injured in Indore Temple Roof Collapse During Ram Navami Celebrations

Indore, 30th March 2023: At least 11 people have died and several others were injured after the roof of a temple collapsed in Indore, during Ram Navami celebrations on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred at around 9 pm on Wednesday, when the devotees had gathered at the Maa Kali temple in the Gautampura area of Indore to celebrate the festival.
The injured were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Rescue teams and police personnel rushed to the spot to carry out rescue operations. According to the officials, the rescue operations were carried out on a war footing and are now complete.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed his condolences and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakhs each to the kin of the deceased. He also directed the officials to ensure that proper medical care is provided to the injured.
The cause of the roof collapse is yet to be ascertained. The district administration has ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
