11 Pimpri Chinchwad police personnel found COVID positive
Pimpri, July 2, 2020: While the number of Coronavirus diseases (COVID-19) patients is increasing in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, city police officers and police personnel are also getting infected with the virus. On Wednesday, 11 employees and officers tested positive and are now undergoing treatment at private hospitals. A total of 28 policemen have been infected by the COVID-19 till date.
Two days ago, two senior police inspectors were found infected by the COVID-19. Then on July 1, 11 more officers were reported to be affected by the pandemic. Police officers fear that this number could rise further. The police who came in contact with the infected police officers have been quarantined. A senior officer has also undergone a test for COVID-19, but his reports are not yet received.
Among the 28 infected police staff, 15 have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 12 of them have returned to their duties. While 13 patients are still undergoing treatment in a private hospital, informed a police official.
