Pune, July 2, 2020: A day after the Ministry of Information Technology of India banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, Chingari, an Indian app, crossed eight million downloads on Google Play Store.

The customer base of TikTok in India was widespread. As soon as the ban was announced, the app stopped working for many users. People have now turned to the Indian alternatives for TikTok such as Chingari. The Indian competitors who have been longing for this are now extremely overjoyed. They welcomed the decision of the Government to ban Chinese apps.

The co-founder of Chingari app Sumit Ghosh tweeted, “300,000 downloads per hour, guys please be patient! We are working on the servers and getting things up and running ASAP!”

He was happy with the surge in downloads and said, “We are happy with the decision and this is the right step taken by the Government of India and the IT Ministry of India. TikTok has been spying on its users and sending the data back to China for a long time. We assure and welcome all the users of TikTok to try Chingari app. It is an Indian grown app and is made for all passionate Indians.”
