148 new Aadhaar centres in Pune

Pune – Soon Punekars will not have to stand for long time in lines for Aadhaar enrollment as 148 new Aadhar card enrollment centres will be opened. New contractors will be appointed and the old machines will be repaired at existing cnetres, after the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) gave its approval.

During a meeting, MP Anil Shirole and MLA Medha Kulkarni raised the issue of long ques at Aadhaar centres. District collector Saurabh Rao, while replying, said, “The population of the city is about 1.2 crores, out of which 95 lakhs have got Aadhaar cards. The process of enrolling remaining persons is going on. At present 120 out 270 machines are not functional. We have got approval from the UIDAI and now repair them. We will also start 148 new centres.”
