Ghaziabad, January 16, 2021: The court of Special CBI Judge Amit Vir Singh on Saturday sentenced Surendra Koli to death in the 12th case of Noida’s famous Nithari case of 2006, and additionally, he is to pay a fine of 1.10 lakh rupees.

CBI Special Public Prosecutor JP Sharma said that a 20-year-old girl living in Nithari village was domestic help. She went to work on 12 November 2006 but did not return. The family searched far and wide, but could not find even a trace of her anywhere. After this, the relatives reached the local police station to register the disappearance, but the police did not register a case.

After this, on 29 December 2006, the skeletons of missing girls were recovered from the drain located behind the home of Moninder Singh Pandher. The shoes, slippers, and clothes of the girls were recovered, on the basis of which they were gradually identified. Moninder Singh Pandher and Surendra Koli were arrested under accusations of destroying evidence. A few days later, the case was transferred to the CBI. Initially, the police had only accused Surendra Koli, but CBI had also accused Moninder Singh Pandher on the basis of witness testimonies. Moninder Singh Pandher was acquitted by the special court on Friday for a lack of evidence.

The hearing of this case lasted 319 days and 38 people testified. The Nithari scandal in the year 2006 has spread like wildfire not only in the country but around the world. When the process of unearthing the corpses began, more than a dozen skeletal remains were found.
