229 Students Get Corona In A Hostel In Maharashtra, 16,738 New Cases In One Day, More Cases After A Month

Maharashtra, February 25, 2021: The cases of corona virus infection are once again increasing rapidly. On Thursday, 229 students and 3 staff members tested corona positive in a hostel in the Washim district of Maharashtra. Around 327 students from Amravati, Hingoli, Nanded, Buldhana, Washim, and Akola are present in the hostel. After the matter came to light, the hostel has been declared as a containment zone and the students found positive have been isolated. Not only this, Corona cases have increased across the country. In the last 24 hours, 16,738 new cases of corona infection have been reported from across the country and 138 people have died. This is the first time after about a month that the number of corona victims has increased by more than 15,000 a day.

The Health Ministry released the figures on Thursday, stating that the total number of Covid cases has gone up to 1,10,46,914, while the death toll has gone up to 1,56,705. According to the updated data at 8 am, this is the first time since January 29, when so many cases have risen together. Earlier, on January 29, 18,855 new cases were received. Apart from this, when we talk about the figures of the dead in one day, after 26 days, such a large number has been witnessed. Apart from this, the figure of those who were cured of Corona has also increased to 1,07,38,501. With this, the Covid-19 recovery rate has increased to 97.21% in India. The death rate is 1.42 percent.

At present there are 1,51,708 active cases across the country, which is 1.37 percent of the total cases. In India, the figure of 20 lakh cases of Corona was completed on 7 August, on 23 August the figure reached 30 lakhs and on 5 September 2020, this figure reached 40 lakh. After this, on September 16, the total number of cases had crossed 50 lakhs. Post which, the figures reached 60 lakhs on 28 September, 70 lakhs on 11 October, 80 lakhs on 29 October, and 90 lakhs on 20 November. On December 19 last year, the total number of corona cases had crossed 10 million. Although the speed had decreased slightly after crossing the one crore mark, once again the increasing cases of corona have raised concerns.

According to ICMR data, as of 24 February, 21,38,29,658 samples have been taken, of which 7,93,383 samples were taken on Wednesday. 5 states including Maharashtra and Kerala continues to be the cause for concern amidst increasing cases of corona. Maharashtra has witnessed 80 deaths out of 138 deaths due to corona in the last 24 hours. Apart from this, 17 people died in Kerala and 7 people died in Punjab. Apart from this, 6 people died in the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka each.
