Pune, 25th March 2026: Alumni of the Deccan Education Society (DES) have come together to organize a cultural initiative titled “DES Rang – Sangeet Sohala,” which will be presented on April 4 at Bharat Natya Mandir.

The initiative began with an invitation sent out to DES alumni. Owing to their emotional connection with the institution, many responded immediately, and participation grew steadily. Around 250 to 300 alumni from the years 1975 to 2025 have taken part in the initiative, submitting videos showcasing their artistic talents.

According to Mrs. Manjusha Thaware (Joshi), an alumna of N.M. School, Ahilyadevi, and BMCC, she was selected in the preliminary round and later shortlisted for further auditions from a group of nearly 160 participants.

The final auditions were held at Shivranjani Studio. Participants’ enthusiasm increased further upon learning that the chief coordinator of the initiative, Vijay Mishra, is a noted television and theatre artist. He guided all participants with patience and played a key role in shaping the program.

The objective of the event is not only to provide a platform for talent but also to support economically disadvantaged alumni and current students of DES. The initiative thus carries a strong social commitment.

Several individuals have contributed to the successful organization of the event, including Yogesh Tapasvi, Omkar Kelkar, Vinayak Dharu, Vinay Ghuman, Kumar Zore, Chintamani Kelkar, Shailesh Diwakar, and Manish Khadilkar, among others.

“DES Rang – Sangeet Sohala” will be held on Saturday, April 4, at 9:00 PM at Bharat Natya Mandir. The organizers have appealed to the citizens of Pune to extend an enthusiastic response to the event.

The organizers expressed confidence that this initiative will truly reflect DES’s motto, “Unity is Strength.”
