Pune, 25th March 2026: With clear skies and rising daytime temperatures, heat conditions have intensified across Pune city and district, signalling the return of summer severity. After a brief dip due to unseasonal rainfall last week, temperatures are once again climbing towards the 40°C mark.

On Tuesday (March 24), Lohgaon recorded the highest maximum temperature at 38.7°C. Koregaon Park followed with 37.8°C, while Shivajinagar and Pashan recorded around 37°C, indicating a steady rise across key parts of the city.

Just a week ago, cloudy weather and scattered unseasonal showers had brought significant relief, pulling down the mercury from nearly 40°C to around 34°C. Residents experienced a mix of weather conditions — cool mornings, hot afternoons and occasional rain — within a single day.

However, with the skies now turning clear, both maximum and minimum temperatures have begun rising again over the past two days. The heat was particularly noticeable on Wednesday morning, with strong sunlight intensifying by noon. Between 12 pm and 3 pm, citizens experienced sharp heat exposure along with increasing humidity, adding to discomfort.

The fluctuating weather in recent days has also contributed to a rise in seasonal illnesses, according to local observations.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that clear sky conditions are likely to persist over the next two to three days. As a result, both day and night temperatures are expected to increase slightly, further intensifying heat conditions in the city.

With temperatures steadily rising, Pune is once again bracing for typical summer heat after a short spell of unseasonal relief.
