Massive Traffic Jam Between Viman Nagar And Kharadi Bypass Chowk Due To Oil Tanker Accident On Pune-Ahmednagar Road

Viman Nagar, 13th June 2023: An oil tanker accident occurred on the Pune-Ahmednagar road near Chandannagar, resulting in a two-kilometer long traffic jam.
The incident took place on Tuesday morning at around 7 am when the tanker, carrying coconut oil, overturned after colliding with the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) lane. The driver sustained injuries and has been hospitalized for treatment at Sassoon Hospital.
Upon receiving the information, the fire brigade personnel from the Pune Municipal Corporation immediately rushed to the spot. Efforts were made to remove the overturned tanker using cranes provided by the Municipal Corporation, but they were unsuccessful. Consequently, metro cranes have been called for assistance at noon.
The prolonged delay in clearing the accident site and the location being an IT park area have led to significant traffic jam, affecting employees and businessmen who are now stranded in the ensuing traffic jam. Authorities are working to resolve the situation and restore normal traffic flow as soon as possible.
