Jammu, December 30, 2020: India’s neighbouring country Pakistan violated the ceasefire protocol 5100 times throughout 2020, setting a new record in the past 18 years. Within the very month, the Central Government of India abrogated Article 370 in August 2019, Pakistani troops managed the transgression of ceasefire 1565 times. This number proved to be the highest number of cases of this violation in 18 years.

As confirmed by security agencies, this callous act has resulted in the deaths of 36 people and fatal injuries have been inflicted upon more than 130 individuals. The unprovoked shelling by the Pakistani troops along the Line of Control and the International Border in 2020 has proved the ceasefire agreement of 2003 to be benign and meaningless.

However, this exchange of firing has yet to see an end. Pakistani soldiers are believed to be still firing at the borders in order to infiltrate the militants on this side of the boundary with the motive of creating unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. “The Pakistani troops repeatedly targeted villages and areas along the LoC and the International Border”, said a senior police officer.

According to sources, the Pakistani army opened fire on the borders 14 times a day in 2020. 24 Indian soldiers and 12 others lost their lives to this shelling by Pakistan, while 130 people bore injuries.

In the year 2019, the Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire 3289 times, but a new record was set in the month of August of 2020 when the troops infringed cease-fire 1565 times in a matter of 31 days.
