11 Omicron Cases In Pune District Today Among 85 In Maharashtra

Pune, 29th December 2021: Today, 85 cases of Omicron variant infection have been reported in Maharashtra state. Of these, 47 patients have been reported by the National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune and 38 by the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune.

 Of the 47 patients reported by NIV, 43 are international travellers and 4 are close contacts. The district wise details of the patients are as under –
○ Mumbai-34
○ Nagpur and Pimpri Chinchwad – 3 each
○ Navi Mumbai and Pune Municipal Corporation – 2 each
o Panvel, Kolhapur and Buldhana – 1 each
● 38 Omicron cases reported by IISER are from community surveillance. As per preliminary information they do not have history of any international travel. The district wise details of the
patients are as under –
o Mumbai-19
o Kalyan Dombivali-5.

Navi Mumbai and Pimpri Chinchwad – 3 each

o Vasai Virar and Pune Municipal Corporation – 2 each

o Pune Rural. , Bhiwandi Nizampur, Panvel, Thane Municipal Corporation – 1 each

● Till date, a total of 252 patients infected with Omicron variant have been reported in the state.

Out of these, 99 cases have been discharged following a negative RT PCR test.

The details of international passengers arriving at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur airports from  1st December till today morning.
