7th Pay Commission: Medical Reimbursement Ceiling Hiked Five Times For These Central Employees

New Delhi, 16th June 2021: Amid the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic, the government has decided to increase the medical claim reimbursement ceiling for a few sections of central government employees. The education department has directed five times medical claims to Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti employees. Now they will get Rs 25000 instead of Rs 5000.
As directed, if all other employees excluding Principal get treatment in a government or CGHS registered hospital, their treatment’s ceiling will be increased from Rs 5000 to Rs 25000. This guideline has come into effect from May 14, 2021.
In addition, if school-level employees get treatment at AMA (Against Medical Advice), their ceiling has been increased from Rs 5000 to Rs 15000.
According to the Education Department, the proposal to appoint private doctors is in line with the Central Government decision.
These allowances are for those who are not under CGHS (Central Government Health Services). A lot of changes have been made in FMA (Fixed Medical Allowance) since Dec 19, 1997. It is also revised intermittently.
Earlier the Central government had approved to give Rs 1000 as Fixed Medical Allowance to pensioners.
Only those people who didn’t demand an allowance after their retirement were eligible for this. They can apply for this allowance. The allowance will start from the date of their application.
