Pune, 13th November 2021: Many disabled and senior citizens are suffering due to the lack of facilities at the Pune Railway Station as they don’t have lifts and escalators on railway platforms.

Also, the vehicle which was earlier used for disabled and senior citizen passengers for movement on platforms is not in service now.

Paras Doshi tweeted “I want to bring your notice that is not disabled railway station is not disable friendly. Yesterday I travelled with my 9wheelchaird-grandfather with a wheelchair and i needed to lift chair at staircase. Escalator can’t be used for a wheelchair.”

SC Jain, Director of Pune Railway Station, confirmed that they do not have these facilities for senior citizens and disabled passengers and there should be lifts and escalators on every platform and bridge.

“We have demanded these services in the recent survey. These are the must requirements on our station”, he added.
