The price of CNG has increased by Rs ten in the last three months. In view of this increase in fuel prices, the rickshaw associations demanded an increase in the rickshaw fare. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Chairman of the transport committee, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh.

Currently, a rickshaw is charging Rs 21 for the first 1.5-kilometre stage. Passengers would have to pay Rs 23 for the first stage, which has now been increased by Rs two. It is proposed to charge a fare of Rs 15 instead of Rs 14 for every kilometre after that, and 40 per cent additional fare from 12.00 am to 5.00 am in other areas except municipal areas. The decision was to be implemented from August 1. According to the revised fare, the deadline of September 30 was given for certification of rickshaw meters. But for now, it was decided to suspend this hike.
