Pune Rural Police Seize Truck Carrying Banned Gutkha Worth Rs 64.99 Lakh

Daund, 16th December 2024: Pune Rural Police recently seized a truckload of banned gutkha in the Daund area of Pune district. The gutkha was being transported from Karnataka to Ahilyanagar. A case has been registered in connection with the incident, which occurred on Daund-Ahilyanagar Road. The operation was carried out by the Detection Branch (DB) of the Daund Police Station based on a tip-off from an anonymous caller.

A case has been filed against Ravi Arjun Holkar, a resident of Kasurdi, Daund, who was driving the truck (registration number KA 29 A 2588) as a rental driver. According to police reports, the Pune Rural Police Force received information through the Maharashtra Emergency Response System (MERS) via the 112 helpline about a truck carrying gutkha to Ahilyanagar via Daund. Acting on this information, a team led by Assistant Police Inspector Nagnath Patil inspected the vehicle and seized it.

The truck was found to contain 141 bags of banned gutkha, valued at ₹54,99,800, along with the truck itself, worth ₹10,00,000. The total value of the seized items amounts to ₹64,99,800.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police Bapurao Dadas. The team included Police Inspector Santosh Gholve, Assistant Police Inspector Nagnath Patil, Police Sub-Inspectors Sunil Ugale and Ramesh Kadam, and Police Constables SD Raut, Nitin Borade, Nikhil Jadhav, Amir Shaikh, Pandhare, Mahesh Bhosale, Sanjay Kothavale, Pavan Mane, HS Kulkarni, Ramesh Karche, Phadnis, and Nitin Dodmise.
