New Delhi, 25th February 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited feedback from stakeholders on a proposal to conduct two board examinations for Class X students starting from the 2025-26 academic session. This move aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which recommends providing students with an opportunity to improve their performance in board exams.

The proposal was discussed in a recent meeting chaired by the Union Minister of Education. As per the discussion, CBSE has been directed to:
Conduct two board examinations annually for Class X students.
Develop a draft policy outlining the implementation of this system.
Host the draft policy on the CBSE website to seek feedback from stakeholders, including schools, teachers, parents, students, and the general public.
The draft policy is now available on the CBSE website (www.cbse.gov.in), and stakeholders are encouraged to submit their responses by March 9, 2025. CBSE officials stated that all feedback will be reviewed before finalizing the policy.

Education experts believe this initiative could help reduce stress among students by allowing them multiple opportunities to improve their scores. However, its impact on academic schedules and logistical implementation remains a key area of discussion.

Students, parents, and educators are urged to participate in the consultation process to shape the future of board examinations in India, CBSE has appealed.
