Rajgad, 28th June 2025: Tourism activities at Rajgad and Panshet, two of Pune district’s most popular weekend destinations, have officially resumed under strict safety guidelines mandated by the local administration. The decision was taken during a special coordination meeting held on June 27, following a proposal by Bhor MLA Shankar Mandekar to address concerns raised by tourism operators.

The meeting was attended by Rajgad Sub-Divisional Officer and Pune Deputy Collector Mahesh Harishchandre, Tehsildar Nivas Dhane, Sub-Inspector Nilesh Khamgal, and local tourism business owners.

Authorities assured stakeholders that, except on ‘Red Alert’ days due to heavy rainfall, all tourist spots in Rajgad taluka will remain open, provided that safety protocols are strictly followed.

Safety Guidelines for Tourists and Operators
Resort operators and visitors are expected to strictly adhere to all government-issued safety instructions. In the Panshet region, tourists with valid advance bookings for the season, who are not in possession of alcohol or narcotics, and can produce confirmed booking vouchers, will be allowed entry without obstruction — as long as they comply with all safety regulations.

Key safety directives include:
No entry into or swimming in fast-flowing water bodies
Avoiding waterfalls — tourists are prohibited from sitting near or under them
No selfies or videography in dangerous areas
Strict ban on carrying or consuming alcohol or drugs
No reckless driving or parking in hazardous areas
Ban on littering and inappropriate behavior in public places
No loud music or acts causing noise, air, or water pollution
Restricted vehicle access near waterfalls, dams, and rivers (except for essential services)
Authorities have also emphasized increased patrolling and enforcement, especially during weekends, to ensure compliance.

Legal Consequences for Violators
Any individual, group, or organization found violating these orders will face legal action under Section 233 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with other applicable laws. Officials have warned that zero tolerance will be shown toward behavior that endangers public safety or disrupts the environment.

Local authorities and law enforcement have assured that while tourism is being encouraged, it will not come at the cost of public safety or ecological balance.

Tourism business operators welcomed the administration’s balanced approach, which allows economic activity to resume while keeping safety a top priority. Many resorts and activity providers have already begun implementing checklists, staff training, and signage to comply with the new norms.

As the monsoon continues, tourists planning a visit to Rajgad and Panshet are advised to check official alerts and weather conditions, and to travel responsibly.
