IMD Forecasts Rainy Days Ahead for Pune; Heavy Showers Recorded in Ghat Areas
Pune, 3rd July 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall for Pune city over the next six days, with heavy to very heavy showers likely in isolated ghat areas, especially through July 6. The city will continue to witness generally cloudy skies during this period.
According to the IMD, the weather outlook for Pune is as follows:
July 3: Cloudy skies with light to moderate rain likely; heavy to very heavy rain expected at isolated spots in ghat regions.
July 4: Cloudy with light rain in most areas; heavy rain at isolated locations in ghats.
July 5 & 6: Similar conditions with increased chances of intense showers in higher elevation areas.
July 7 & 8: Light to moderate rain expected across the city under overcast skies.
Ghat Areas Record Highest Rainfall
In the 24-hour period ending at 9 am on Thursday, Kurvande recorded the highest rainfall in Pune district with 116.5 mm, followed by Bhor with 92.0 mm and Girivan with 82.0 mm — all prominent ghat or hilly locations.
The rainfall amounts recorded in other areas were:
Nimgiri: 62.5 mm
Lavale: 22.0 mm
Talegaon: 19.0 mm
Pashan: 13.9 mm
Shivajinagar: 13.5 mm
Chinchwad: 9.5 mm
Hadapsar: 9.0 mm
Magarpatta & Rajgurunagar: 6.0 mm each
NDA: 5.5 mm
Narayangaon & Purandar: 3.5 mm each
Dapodi & Dudulgaon: 3.0 mm each
Koregaon Park: 1.5 mm
Daund: 0.5 mm
Citizens Advised to Stay Cautious
With consistent rainfall expected, especially in ghat sections, the IMD has urged citizens to remain alert while traveling in hilly areas due to the possibility of localized flooding, waterlogging, and reduced visibility. Commuters are advised to check local weather updates before planning travel to areas like Lavasa, Tamhini, and Lonavala.
