Pune, 13th July 2025: In a major administrative step toward resolving the growing infrastructure and traffic issues in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park, the first high-level review meeting is set to be held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar. The meeting will be attended by officials from all relevant government departments, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge confirmed on Saturday.

The move follows a recent assessment of the area by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who instructed the creation of a time-bound action plan and a ‘Single Point Authority’ to streamline decision-making and implementation for Hinjawadi. This decision has prompted swift administrative action, with the upcoming meeting being seen as a significant first step.

Mounting Pressure from Residents and IT Professionals

Hinjawadi, Maharashtra’s largest IT hub, is currently grappling with chronic traffic congestion, poor road conditions, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of coordination among various civic bodies. With over five lakh IT professionals commuting daily to and from the area, local citizens, IT employees, resident forums, and society federations have long demanded urgent intervention.

“The lives of Hinjawadi’s working population and residents have become increasingly difficult due to these unresolved issues,” said a local federation representative.

MLA Mahesh Landge’s Intervention

Highlighting these concerns, MLA Mahesh Landge took the matter directly to CM Fadnavis, facilitating a crucial meeting in Mumbai that brought together all key stakeholders including government officials, IT Forum members, and society federation representatives. This meeting laid the groundwork for the creation of the ‘Single Point Authority’ approach.

Following the momentum built in Mumbai, Landge approached Divisional Commissioner Dr. Pulkundwar with a request to convene an urgent follow-up meeting—now scheduled to take place imminently. The outcome of this meeting is eagerly awaited by stakeholders across Pune’s tech corridor.

“We took the initiative to solve the problems in Hinjawadi. The Chief Minister has brought all departments together for a unified response. As per his directives, the Divisional Commissioner will now hold a coordination meeting. We are confident Hinjawadi will be free from these challenges in the near future,” — Mahesh Landge, MLA, BJP, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune.

The review meeting is expected to focus on immediate and long-term measures to decongest traffic, improve road infrastructure, and establish inter-agency coordination.
