Pimpri-Chinchwad, 4th August 2025: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) has extended the ban period on heavy vehicles by two hours. Previously, the ban was in effect from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the morning and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the evening. The new timings are from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the morning and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the evening.

Citizens have frequently complained about traffic congestion in several areas within the PCPC limits, including Chakan, Bhosari, Mahalunge, Talegaon Dabhade, Hinjawadi, Talawade, Wakad, Dehu Road, and Alandi. Congestion is also reported on the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway, Katraj-Dehu Road bypass, and Mumbai-Pune Expressway. With ongoing developmental projects across the jurisdiction, traffic problems have worsened.

The Traffic Branch of PCPC believes that extending the heavy and slow-moving vehicle ban will help ease the traffic situation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil said, “Despite the existing ban on heavy vehicles, congestion persisted. That is why the ban timings have been extended.”
