Vishrantwadi, 7th August 2025: A disturbing case of animal cruelty has surfaced in the Tingre Nagar area of Pune, where a man has been accused of physically assaulting and sexually abusing a stray female dog. The Vimantal Police have registered a case following a formal complaint lodged by a 27-year-old local resident.

The accused has been identified as Honappa Amoghisidd Hosmani, a resident of Vishrantwadi.

According to the police, the incident reportedly occurred around 3 PM on August 3, in a tin shed along a public road near the complainant’s home. “The woman saw the accused hitting the dog multiple times and behaving in an extremely cruel manner. Based on her account, we have filed a case and begun the investigation,” said a senior officer from Vimantal Police Station.

The complainant told police that she was shocked by the brutality and immediately filmed the incident before approaching the authorities. “It was horrifying to witness such abuse. I couldn’t just ignore it. I had to take a stand,” she reportedly told officials.

A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The investigation is ongoing, and police officials have assured that strict action will be taken if the allegations are confirmed.

Animal rights activists have condemned the incident and are calling for stronger enforcement of laws to protect stray animals. “This kind of cruelty must not be tolerated. It’s time for authorities to treat such cases with utmost seriousness,” said a local volunteer associated with an animal welfare NGO.
