Sahakarnagar, 22nd August 2025: The Pune police launched an investigation on Thursday into the alleged involvement of a police constable, currently posted at Swargate police station, in a drug-related case registered at Sahakarnagar police station.

The city’s crime branch arrested a 25-year-old unemployed man from Thergaon, identified as Pawar, following a tip-off received by Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. During the operation, officials recovered 7 kilograms of marijuana from the accused.

“We seized Pawar’s mobile phone and conducted a thorough analysis,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Milind Mohite. “Our findings indicate that a constable from Swargate police station was in regular contact with Pawar. Based on this, we have initiated an inquiry against the constable,” he added.

The probe is ongoing, and further details are expected as investigators examine the constable’s role and possible links to the drug operation.
