Ganesh Darshan Tour Announced for Senior Citizens and Tourists in Pune
Pune, 28th August 2025: As the city gears up for Ganeshotsav, the Directorate of Tourism, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML), and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have come together to launch a special Ganesh Darshan Tour aimed at offering devotees and visitors a chance to experience Pune’s most iconic Ganesh mandals.
The initiative is designed not only for domestic and foreign tourists but also makes a special provision for senior citizens and persons with disabilities aged 60 years and above. Organizers believe this step will help more people—who might otherwise find it difficult to navigate crowded pandals—take part in the cultural and devotional spirit of the festival.
On September 1, participants will be taken for live darshan at some of Pune’s most celebrated Ganesh mandals, including Trishundaya Ganapati, Kasba Ganapati, Tambdi Jogeshwari, Tulshibagh Ganapati, Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati, Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati Trust, Babu Genu Ganapati, and Akhil Mandai Mandal.
The tour is scheduled between 8.30 am and 2 pm, with five air-conditioned buses arranged by PMPML. Each bus has a capacity of 35 passengers and will start from designated points—Katraj Depot, Hadapsar (Railway Station), Kothrud Depot, Shivajinagar (Model Colony), and Yerawada (Gunjan Talkies). Passengers are expected to board by 1.30 pm.
To ensure a comfortable journey, the Tourism Department has made special arrangements including trained guides, snacks, drinking water, and the presence of health workers with first aid kits.
Deputy Director of the Divisional Tourism Office, Shama Pawar, appealed to citizens to register in advance. Registrations can be completed by contacting Rita Ganesh Bendre (9730993282) or by filling out the Google Form (https://forms.gle/BbE36QZDyasCGH2SA) through the QR code provided by the department.
Officials expressed hope that this unique initiative will not only make Ganeshotsav more inclusive but also highlight Pune’s deep-rooted cultural traditions for visitors from across India and abroad.
