Pune/Ranchi, 28th August 2025: In a case charged with legal drama and political mudslinging, Amit Prabhakar Salunke, Director of Sumeet Facilities Ltd, was granted bail by ACB Special Judge Justice Yogesh Kumar Singh, ending his month-long judicial custody. Arrested on July 24, 2025, over alleged excise-related irregularities in Jharkhand, his detention was quickly weaponized by Maharashtra’s opposition, dragging the visionary ‘108 Ambulance Project’ into controversy through baseless associations.

In the ACB Court, Salunke’s legal team argued that he was not named in the FIR, had no criminal antecedents, and had fully cooperated with investigators. Agreeing to the facts presented, the Court observed that “…no direct evidence or sufficient material was produced against Salunke, calling into question the arbitrary nature of the arrest, despite compliance with the Investigating Officer’s notice.”

Speaking on the development, Adv. Indrajit Sinha, Senior Counsel for Amit Prabhakar Salunke, said, “We welcome the order of the Sessions Court, which, after hearing both sides, found no material against my client and was pleased to grant him bail. The order is in the interest of justice, and we are duty-bound to comply with every direction of the Court. Amit Salunke shall continue to fully cooperate with the investigation.”

In the aftermath of Salunke’s arrest, several political figures in Maharashtra made false and unfounded allegations of his supposed involvement in the infamous ambulance scam, a charge that remained unproven to date. These unsubstantiated allegations propagated across media and political circles adversely affected Salunke’s good standing and public image.

Interestingly, despite serious allegations, the Jharkhand Police failed to file a chargesheet within the statutory period, effectively signaling the absence of prosecutable material. Salunke became the first accused in the case for having been granted bail on the merits of the case.

The Court granted bail on moderate terms, with strict conditions for compliance. Legal experts note that this does not only expose procedural lapses in the arrest but also indicates stronger possibilities of him being granted a de facto clean chit, both from the court and by default from the police, as the prosecution hasn’t been able to sustain any formal charges.

With the Jharkhand liquor scam case rapidly losing steam, with no credible link established to the ambulance scam, Salunke’s legal and public standing has been significantly restored, marking a setback for those who sought to weaponize the investigation for political ends.
