Satara, 1st September 2025: The vibrant bloom season at Kaas Plateau, a UNESCO World Heritage site near Satara, will open to tourists from September 4, 2025, officials confirmed after a review meeting at the District Collector’s office on Saturday.

District Collector Santosh Patil, who chaired the meeting, said, “Kaas Plateau is a treasure of biodiversity, and we want to ensure that tourists enjoy the season without causing stress to the environment. Adequate measures are being planned for crowd management and smooth traffic flow.”

This year’s opening was initially scheduled for September 1 but had to be pushed back due to persistent heavy rainfall. With clearer weather now setting in and flowers beginning to bloom, the new date was finalized.
Authorities are preparing additional arrangements for visitor management.

“We are considering a one-way traffic system on the approach roads to reduce congestion. A final decision will be taken after consulting the police department,” Patil added. Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi has been asked to assess the feasibility of the plan.

Deputy Conservator of Forests Amol Satpute emphasized the importance of controlled tourism. “Kaas is extremely sensitive, and online booking helps us regulate footfall to preserve the plateau’s unique biodiversity,” he said.

The meeting was also attended by Divisional Forest Officer Reshma Vhotkare, engineers, police representatives, and members of the Kaas Plateau management committee.

Often called the “Valley of Flowers of Maharashtra,” Kaas Plateau draws thousands of visitors every year during its brief yet breathtaking flowering season. Officials expect a surge in tourists this year, with advance bookings already underway.
