Pune, 2nd September 2025: Daily commuters on Sinhagad Road finally got a breather on Monday as Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the last leg of the flyover linking Manikbaug to Vitthalwadi.

The bridge, built to decongest one of Pune’s busiest stretches, has already eased traffic flow. Commuters reported faster travel times and fewer snarls during peak hours. “Earlier it used to take us nearly 30 minutes to cross this stretch, but now it’s hardly 10 minutes,” said one regular commuter.

But the relief is not seamless. At the Vitthalwadi end, the connecting road is narrow and riddled with potholes, slowing down vehicles trying to merge into traffic. Residents of the Goyal Ganga area pointed out that the uneven and unfinished approach road negates part of the bridge’s benefit.

“The bridge is good, but the road at the end is not plain and proper. It feels incomplete,” said Suraj Parwe, a daily commuter.

Citizens have urged civic authorities to repair and widen the approach roads at the earliest, warning that without these improvements, congestion may return. For now, the bridge stands as a welcome relief for Sinhagad Road’s overburdened commuters—though the last stretch of the journey still demands patience.
