Viman Nagar, 2nd September 2025: In a bid to tackle Pune’s mounting solid waste challenge, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram has begun inspecting garbage collection points, also known as feeder points, as part of his top-priority agenda. The Commissioner has pledged to transform these sites and initiated steps toward cleaner and smarter management.

On Monday, Ram visited feeder points at Zircon, Sakorenagar, and Yamunanagar under the Nagar Road–Vadgaon Sheri ward office. He reviewed ongoing operations, including sanitation workers’ attendance and the door-to-door waste collection system managed through garbage vehicles. Officials also briefed him on efforts to develop smart feeder points.

The Commissioner directed civic staff to not only beautify the feeder points but also raise public awareness about responsible waste disposal. “Improving waste management is not just about infrastructure, but also about changing citizen behavior,” he emphasized during the inspection.

As part of the “Clean Pune, Beautiful Pune” campaign, PMC has undertaken several initiatives, with feeder point reforms now being a key focus. Senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management Sandeep Kadam, Zonal Deputy Commissioner Madhav Jagtap, Ward Officer Shital Wakde, along with health inspectors and representatives from Swachh and Human Matrix teams, were present during the inspection.

Following the visit, the Additional Municipal Commissioner convened a special ward-level meeting and instructed officials to prepare detailed action plans. Since taking charge, Ram has been known for his hands-on approach—often visiting markets late at night to check whether shop waste is cleared promptly.

He has repeatedly urged the Solid Waste Department to perform duties diligently, a push that has already brought greater discipline among staff. With the latest inspections, the civic administration hopes to improve feeder points across the city and set higher standards for waste management.
