Yerwada, 10th September 2025: On the opening day of the special Lok Adalat organized to help citizens clear pending traffic fines at maximum discount, more than 542 people came forward to settle their dues. In a single day, over 3,000 challans were paid, generating revenue of more than ₹10.82 lakh.

The initiative allows citizens to avail discounts on fines imposed for various traffic violations such as driving without a helmet, not wearing a seat belt, signal jumping, and driving without a number plate, said DCP (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav.

On Tuesday, hundreds of motorists reached the traffic police office in Yerwada to take advantage of the scheme. Many expressed relief as the discounted settlement helped reduce their financial burden while ensuring compliance with traffic laws.

“This Lok Adalat has been organized to benefit both the public and the administration. The compromise on fines not only eases the pressure on citizens but also ensures faster recovery of dues. A significant amount of revenue has been collected on the very first day,” said Sonal Patil, Secretary of the Legal Services Authority.

The special Lok Adalat will continue till 13th September, and authorities expect more citizens to come forward and clear their pending fines. People can visit the Lok Adalat between 10 am to 5 pm.
