Viman Nagar, 13th September 2025: A tragic accident claimed the life of a two-year-old boy outside a playschool in the 9 BRD Air Force Station (AFS) area on Thursday afternoon. Police said the car involved in the accident was being driven by Meenakshi Hetwal (37), a resident of the Air Force colony, whose own child also studies at the same playschool.

According to police, the victim’s father Vipin Rajsingh Mawi (34), employed in the logistics department of 9 BRD AFS, had dropped his son Vidarth and two other neighbourhood children at the school around 9 am. He returned around 12:30 pm to collect them.

Assistant Inspector Sameer Karpe of the Airport Police Station explained the sequence of events. “The father told us he first picked up the two boys from the school gate and seated them in his car. His son Vidarth was still waiting near the entrance. When he was about to return to pick him up, the woman’s car turned towards the school and struck the child,” Karpe said.

Police said the boy came under the right front wheel of the vehicle and sustained severe injuries to his face, head, and left hand. “He was rushed to the Air Force hospital and later shifted to the Command Hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive,” the officer added.

A case has been registered against the woman driver under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving), and 125 (endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with applicable provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The complaint was lodged by the child’s father.

Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
