Pune: Sangeeta Bijlani Seeks Firearm License After Pawna Farmhouse Vandalism
Pune, 29th September 2025: Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani has applied for a firearm license following a distressing incident at her Pune farmhouse. The property, located in Maval taluka near Pawna Dam, was broken into and extensively vandalized in July 2025.
Bijlani discovered the damage after returning from a four-month absence due to her father’s ill health. The intruders had forced open the main door and window grills, ransacked the premises, and stolen several items, including a television set, while damaging others such as beds, a refrigerator, and CCTV equipment.
Following the incident, Bijlani met Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill on September 19, 2025, to thank the police for their assistance and to discuss the progress of the investigation. During this meeting, she also sought guidance on obtaining a firearm license.
Under the Indian Arms Act of 1959, individuals can apply for a firearm license for self-defense. The process includes a thorough background check by local police, and licenses are typically issued for Non-Prohibited Bore (NPB) firearms. Prohibited Bore firearms, however, are generally reserved for defense personnel or individuals facing imminent threats to life.
The police investigation into the burglary is ongoing.
