Mohammadwadi, 7th November 2025: The Kalepadal Police have registered a case against former Mohammadwadi corporator Prachi Alhat, her husband Ashish Alhat, and two others for allegedly duping a city-based doctor of ₹24.20 lakh by promising to secure a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) amenity-space plot on a 30-year lease.

The complaint was filed by Dr. Mahendra Dhondiram Survase (39), a paediatrician residing at Neco Beaumont, Nyati Estate, Mohammadwadi. The accused have been identified as Prachi Alhat, her husband Ashish Alhat, both residents of Alhat Vasti, Chintamani Kurne of Mohammadwadi, and Asif Sheikh of Mangalwar Peth.

According to police, the alleged fraud took place between November 2023 and July 2025 at Vertical Alsennia, Mohammadwadi, and at the Alhat residence.

As per the FIR, Dr. Survase runs Orchid Clinic on Undri–Hadapsar Road. One of his patients, Chintamani Kurne, along with his wife, frequently visited the clinic for their child’s treatment. During these visits, Kurne introduced Dr. Survase to his friend Ashish Alhat, claiming that Ashish’s wife, Prachi Alhat, was a former corporator who could help him acquire a PMC amenity-space plot for establishing a hospital.

The accused allegedly told the doctor that builders were required to reserve portions of land for public amenities and that such spaces were leased out by PMC to medical professionals for hospital use on a 30-year basis. They further claimed that a plot near Dr. Survase’s residential complex in Mohammadwadi was available, requiring a payment of around ₹25–26 lakh.

Believing their assurances, Dr. Survase and his associate Dr. Rameshwar Pathade visited the Alhats’ home, where the accused allegedly showed them forged documents suggesting that PMC had granted similar leases to other hospitals. Convinced by these claims, Dr. Survase made payments in instalments amounting to ₹24.20 lakh, including ₹2.70 lakh purportedly towards GST, police said.

However, the complainant later discovered that no such PMC lease process existed and that he had been cheated. Despite repeated follow-ups and promises that the work was in its “final stage,” the accused failed to deliver any lease documents or refund the money.

Following Dr. Survase’s complaint, the Kalepadal Police registered a case under Sections 3(5), 318(4), and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for cheating and criminal conspiracy. PSI Prashant Ashok Latapate is investigating the case further.
