Pune Crime Branch Seizes Gutkha and Tobacco Worth Over Rs 20 Lakh, One Arrested
Yerwada, 24th November 2025: The Anti-Narcotics Squad 2 of the Pune City Crime Branch seized prohibited gutkha and tobacco products valued at ₹20,70,500 during a raid in the Yerwada area on Sunday. One person has been arrested in connection with the case.
The operation was carried out under the instructions of senior officers as part of an anti-narcotics drive in the Yerwada Police Station limits. The team, led by Police Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad and Assistant Police Inspector Nitinkumar Naik, raided a warehouse behind Ved Provision Stores, Survey No. 14, near Sanjay Bhosale’s office in Naik Nagar, Yerwada.
During the raid, police recovered a large stock of banned gutkha stored in the back warehouse. The accused, identified as Jamanaram alias Ganesh Balram Jat (25), a resident of Naik Nagar, Yerwada, was taken into custody.
A case has been registered at Yerwada Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), and the Food Safety and Standards Act for illegal possession and distribution of prohibited tobacco products.
