Pune Airport Drug Bust: High-Grade Weed Worth Rs 2.29 Crore Seized From Bangkok Flyer

Viman Nagar, 9th December 2025: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Pune Commissionerate has seized hydroponic marijuana worth approximately Rs 2.29 crore from a passenger who arrived from Bangkok at Pune International Airport on December 8.
Officials said the action was taken based on passenger profiling. The suspect landed on IndiGo flight 6E-1096, and during an inspection of his check-in baggage, officers found two airtight sealed packages hidden inside. The packages were opened, revealing a total of 2,299.44 grams of hydroponic weed, also known as high-grade marijuana.
The passenger was immediately detained and later arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The contraband was seized and secured as evidence.
Authorities confirmed that hydroponic marijuana is a high-value illicit substance, cultivated using advanced methods to enhance its potency, making it a sought-after product in illegal markets.
