Baner, 10th December 2025: Political tensions have escalated in Pune after Jayesh Sanjay Murkute (24), working president of the Kothrud Assembly unit of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), filed a formal complaint against former Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Standing Committee chairman Baburao Chandere and his son Sameer Chandere, alleging threats and intimidation during an incident in Baner on 6 December.

Murkute claimed that the confrontation arose when PMC officials, allegedly acting under the influence of the Chanderes, attempted to enter private property at Survey No. 13/3 without prior notice or legal authorization. He further alleged that the officials tried to install a third pipeline on the land, prompting the tense exchange.

According to Murkute, the father-son duo used abusive language, issued threats, and attempted physical intimidation. He framed the incident as part of a broader effort to curb emerging youth leadership in the run-up to the forthcoming civic elections.

Rejecting any form of coercion, Murkute said he would pursue the matter through legal channels, refusing to yield to threats or political pressure. A formal complaint has been registered citing BNS Sections 115(2), 352, 351(2), and 3(5).

The allegations have already sparked political debate in Pune, as parties prepare for the upcoming civic polls, highlighting tensions around youth leadership and governance in the city.
