DCPs Lead Early-Morning Recce for Pune Grand Tour Safety and Security
Pune, 11th December 2025: With the Pune Grand Tour inching closer, senior city police officials conducted an extensive on-ground inspection of the race route on Thursday, reviewing every stretch to ensure the mega international cycling event meets global safety and operational standards. Similar recces will be done for other stretches also.
From 7 am to 11 am, officers cycled through the planned course from Radha Chowk in Baner to the Peth areas, assessing road conditions, security arrangements, and required infrastructural work. The inspection was led by DCP (Zone 4) Somay Munde, DCP (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale, and DCP (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav.
The Pune Grand Tour, scheduled from 19 to 23 January 2026, will take cyclists through an expansive mix of urban corridors, rural routes, and hilly landscapes. Designed as a demanding endurance challenge, the event is expected to draw top professional cyclists from India and across the world, strengthening Pune’s position on the international cycling map.
As per civic updates, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has completed 85 percent of its 75-km stretch of the race route, which forms a crucial part of the overall circuit.

Speaking to Punekar News, DCP Munde said, “We conducted a review of the route on cycles along with the traffic DCP, organisers, and respective SHOs to understand the route properly and plan bandobast accordingly.”
Echoing this, DCP Rawale added, “We inspected the preparations and identified what more needs to be done. Security deployment, audience viewing points, road closures, and encroachment removal were examined while the entire team cycled along the path.”
DCP Jadhav noted that the officers spent nearly four hours cycling the full stretch to closely examine every segment and plan the bandobast duties in detail.
With police and civic authorities stepping up preparations, Pune is gearing up to host one of its most ambitious and globally significant sporting events.
