Breast Cancer Awareness Drive Held in Pune’s Viman Nagar Area
Viman Nagar, 23rd December 2025: A breast cancer screening and awareness camp was held in Viman Nagar by the Surendra Pathare Foundation in association with the Integrated Cancer Treatment & Research Centre, Wagholi, and Ruby Hall Clinic. The camp, organised on December 13, was conducted exclusively for women residents of the area with the aim of promoting early detection, spreading awareness, and encouraging women to prioritise their health.
The day-long camp saw encouraging participation from women across different age groups. Key services such as mammography, specialist consultations, nutritional counselling, and body fat composition analysis were provided in a safe and women-only environment. Medical teams ensured privacy, comfort, and clear guidance throughout the screening process, helping participants feel confident and supported.
Speaking on the occasion, Aishwarya Surendra Pathare, Founder President of Sakhi Prerna Manch, said early detection plays a crucial role in saving lives. She noted that many women delay screening due to fear, hesitation, or lack of awareness, and added that timely screening should be seen as an act of self-care and strength. She emphasised that when women take care of their health, families and communities become stronger.

The smooth execution of the camp was made possible with the support of women volunteers including Meera William, Anita Hanumante, Rita Kanda, Nitu Bajwa, Sumita Pillai, Ashwini Desai, Reeta Sinha, Sunita Swami, Deepika Deokar, and Geeta Bradshaw. The volunteers played an important role in coordination, guiding participants, and ensuring a comfortable experience throughout the camp.
Several participants shared positive feedback about the initiative. One attendee said the camp helped build confidence, especially for those undergoing screening for the first time, and that the supportive environment made the process easier.
The organisers expressed gratitude to the doctors, medical staff, and healthcare teams from the Integrated Cancer Treatment & Research Centre, Wagholi, and Ruby Hall Clinic for their professional support and compassionate approach. They also thanked the volunteers and participants for their cooperation and trust.

The Surendra Pathare Foundation reiterated its commitment to continuing community-based initiatives with a special focus on women’s health, awareness, and preventive care, aiming to make quality healthcare accessible at the grassroots level.
