Pune: MHT-CET, NDA Exam Dates Clash; Students in Dilemma
Pune, 25th February 2026: A schedule clash between the state-level MHT-CET and the National Defence Academy (NDA) entrance examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has led to confusion among students planning to appear for both tests.
The MHT-CET, conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, is held for admissions to professional courses such as engineering, technology and pharmacy. This year, the examination will be conducted in two sessions — April and May. The Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) group exam under the April session is scheduled to commence from April 11.
Meanwhile, the NDA entrance examination, conducted nationwide by the UPSC, is scheduled for April 12. The NDA exam is held twice a year, in April and September.
As both examinations are typically taken by students after Class 12, the overlapping schedule has raised concerns, particularly among students from Army schools and others aspiring to appear for both exams.
A parent expressed concern that both entrance examinations are crucial for students’ futures. “Students preparing for the NDA examination invest nearly two years in rigorous preparation. If the exams are scheduled close together, it could affect their performance or deprive them of an important opportunity. The authorities should consider revising the schedule,” the parent said.
Officials from the CET Cell stated that affected students may submit representations to the department, and appropriate consideration will be given to genuine cases.
