Hadapsar, 26th February 2026: Residents of Shelwadi–Holkarwadi village (D Block) have raised serious concerns over what they describe as prolonged neglect of basic civic infrastructure, despite being regular property tax payers.

The residents have flagged two major issues — severely damaged internal roads and non-functional streetlights — which they say are causing daily hardship and posing serious safety risks.

According to locals, the internal roads in the area are riddled with deep potholes and uneven surfaces, making them nearly impassable. Residents allege that during medical emergencies, ambulances and other emergency vehicles often refuse to enter the locality due to the poor road conditions, putting senior citizens and patients at risk.

Although streetlight poles have been installed in the area, residents claim the lights have remained non-functional for several months. The lack of illumination has reportedly turned the locality into a dark zone after sunset, heightening safety concerns, particularly for women returning home from work.

Residents fear that the absence of street lighting increases the risk of accidents, anti-social activities, and petty crimes in the area.
Locals said they have submitted multiple verbal and written complaints to the Gram Panchayat and ward-level authorities. However, they claim that no visible action has been taken so far.

“We are regular property tax payers, yet our basic civic needs are being ignored. The condition of the roads is so poor that ambulances hesitate to enter the area during emergencies. At night, the entire locality remains in darkness due to non-functional streetlights, creating serious safety concerns for our families. We urge the authorities to conduct an immediate site inspection and initiate repairs without further delay,” said Kamlesh Singh Rajput, an ex-Navy personnel and resident of Shelwadi–Holkarwadi.

Residents have now demanded an urgent site inspection, immediate repairs to roads and electrical fixtures, and the issuance of an official complaint tracking number to ensure accountability.

Residents expressed hope that timely intervention would prevent further inconvenience and avert potential hazards in the area.
