Pune, 10th March 2026: Fuel supply concerns are beginning to affect daily life and businesses in Pune, with the supply of commercial LPG cylinders in the city reportedly facing disruptions. Hotel and restaurant operators fear operational difficulties if the situation continues for the next few days.

According to industry sources, distribution of commercial LPG cylinders from gas plants located in Chakan and Shikrapur in Pune district has been temporarily halted. Commercial cylinders are widely used by hotels, restaurants and food vendors for daily cooking operations.

Hotel owners say the disruption could affect their services if supply does not resume soon. Industry representatives have warned that some establishments may have to limit operations or temporarily shut down if the shortage persists.

Several gas dealers in Pune district have reportedly received written instructions from plant authorities not to accept new bookings for commercial cylinders for the time being.

Dealers are currently distributing the limited stock available on a priority basis, but the situation is expected to remain strained for the next few days.

Households are also facing challenges. The government has introduced a rule requiring a 25-day gap before customers can book a second domestic LPG cylinder. Earlier, customers were allowed to book another cylinder after 15 days.

With the waiting period now extended to 25 days, many households are concerned about managing their cooking needs if their cylinder runs out. Consumers have also reported delays of three to five days in delivery as supply has slowed in recent days.

For now, hotel operators are attempting to source cylinders from other gas agencies that still have limited stock. However, industry members say these reserves may last only a few more days.

Small food vendors such as tea stalls and vada pav sellers, who usually do not maintain backup stock, fear their daily businesses could come to a halt if cylinders become unavailable.

From large restaurants to roadside tea stalls, many establishments in the city are facing uncertainty over how they will keep their kitchens running in the coming days if the supply situation does not improve.
