Pune: Portion of Residential Building Collapses in Sadashiv Peth, 10 Residents Rescued Safely
Pune, 18th March 2026: A late-night scare unfolded in Sadashiv Peth after a portion of a three-storey residential building partially collapsed, trapping residents inside. The incident occurred around 11:58 pm at Charudatta Apartment, located at 1420 Sadashiv Peth.
According to fire officials, the compound wall, parts of the gallery, and a section of the staircase collapsed, triggering panic among residents. Upon receiving the alert, a fire engine, a rescue vehicle, and additional fire brigade personnel were rushed from the central fire station.
Fire personnel quickly assessed the situation and launched a rescue operation. Using extension ladders, safety belts, and ropes, the team successfully evacuated all trapped residents within about an hour.
A total of 10 people — five women and five men — along with a pet dog named Jenny, were rescued safely from the first, second, and third floors. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though two elderly residents were among those rescued.

The rescued pet dog has been identified as Jenny.
Police officials, engineers from the Ghorpadi ward office of the Pune Municipal Corporation, and personnel from the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) were also present at the site to assess the situation and ensure safety.
The rescue operation was carried out under the supervision of duty officers Prashant Gaykar and Vijay Gosavi, along with a team of firefighters.
