Pune: Black Magic Allegations Add New Twist to Ashok Kharat Case; Sushma Andhare Targets Women’s Commission Chief
Pune/Mumbai, 20th March 2026: Allegations of occult practices and black magic have injected a sensational new dimension into the Ashok Kharat case, with Sushma Andhare accusing State Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar of deeper links and demanding a high-level probe.
Speaking to the media, Andhare questioned earlier assertions that Chakankar’s association with Kharat was limited, claiming instead that new material suggests a more significant connection. She alleged that certain videos had surfaced purportedly showing Chakankar participating in rituals linked to Kharat, and further claimed that these were associated with black magic practices.
To support her allegations, Andhare referred to two photographs—one allegedly showing Chakankar with henna applied on her hand, and another depicting a bandaged finger. She linked the latter to September 2, 2024, which she described as an important religious occasion, suggesting possible involvement in ritualistic activities.
Andhare also cited statements attributed to alleged victims, claiming that some women had spoken about such practices. However, these claims remain unverified and have not been independently confirmed by investigating authorities.
Demanding strict action, Andhare said Chakankar should resign from her constitutional post if the allegations are proven. She called for a detailed probe, including examination of call records, and said Chakankar should be made a co-accused if evidence warrants it.
She also suggested the use of narcoanalysis as part of the investigation.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader further alleged that political backing was delaying action in the case and urged Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar to intervene to ensure justice and protection for the alleged victims.
In a separate claim, Andhare said she had received multiple threatening calls during the day, prompting her to inform the police after blocking several numbers.
No Response from Chakankar:
The allegations have intensified the political row surrounding the case. There has been no official response so far from Rupali Chakankar regarding the claims.
