Pimpri Chinchwad, 30th March 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has collected a record Rs 157.21 crore in property tax within 29 days under its ongoing ‘Amnesty Scheme’, officials said on Monday.

As many as 55,711 defaulters have availed of the scheme between March 1 and March 29, 2026. The scheme, which offers a 90% waiver on penalty for delayed payments, will remain in force till March 31.

According to civic officials, a total of 68,488 property owners have paid their dues so far, contributing to a sharp rise in revenue collection. Of these, over 55,700 defaulters benefited from the scheme and were granted penalty waivers amounting to Rs 38.81 crore.

The civic body said the initiative has provided significant financial relief to citizens while strengthening its revenue base. With only one few hours left for the scheme to end, authorities have urged remaining defaulters to clear their dues and avail of the benefit before the deadline.

To facilitate payments on the last day, all tax collection counters will remain open from 10am to 10pm on March 31. Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sachin Pawar appealed to citizens to utilise the final opportunity and avoid last-minute rush.

Mayor Ravi Landge said the scheme has helped both citizens and the civic body. “The response from residents reflects their commitment towards the city’s development. Remaining defaulters should take advantage of the final opportunity,” he said.

Municipal commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi said the scheme has led to a significant increase in tax recovery and achieved its objective of providing relief to defaulters. “Citizens are voluntarily coming forward to pay taxes, which is a positive sign. All necessary facilities have been provided to ensure hassle-free payments,” he said.
