New Delhi, 19th April 2026: Indian Railways has introduced a range of new passenger-focused facilities, including digital co-working lounges, multi-level car parking, gaming zones, and medical centres across stations, as part of efforts to enhance on-ground amenities and diversify non-fare revenue streams.

Officials said these initiatives are being implemented across multiple zones, with a focus on improving convenience, accessibility, and overall passenger experience within station premises.

Among the key additions is the introduction of premium co-working spaces and digital lounges, designed to provide passengers with access to high-speed Wi-Fi, workstations, charging points, and conference facilities. The concept, developed by Western Railway, also includes services such as printing, scanning, refreshments, and flexible usage options like hourly access and bundled packages.

Multi-level car parking facilities are also being developed at select stations to address space constraints and streamline vehicular movement. These facilities are aimed at improving last-mile connectivity and reducing congestion around station premises.

Railways has also introduced gaming zones and recreational areas at stations, particularly targeting passengers with longer waiting times. In parallel, medical care centres and health kiosks have been set up to provide basic healthcare support within station premises.

Additional amenities include nursing pods, e-wheelchair services on a paid basis, plastic bottle crushing machines, and expanded use of station space for passenger services and commercial activities.

These initiatives form part of the Railways’ broader strategy to increase non-fare revenue through the commercial utilisation of station infrastructure. Revenue generated through such avenues is being used to support station upgrades, cleanliness measures, and the expansion of passenger facilities.

Officials indicated that similar models are being replicated across other railway zones based on feasibility and passenger demand, with further expansion planned in the coming months.
