GE Aerospace Announces Rs 100 Crore Expansion at Pune Facility, Total Investment Crosses Rs 510 Crore
Pune, 19th May 2026: Aerospace major GE Aerospace has announced a fresh investment of ₹100 crore in its Pune manufacturing unit as part of its ongoing expansion plans in India. The move is aimed at increasing production capacity and upgrading manufacturing capabilities at the facility, which supplies critical aircraft engine components to global markets.
According to the company, the latest investment will be used for the installation of advanced welding systems, high-precision inspection equipment, specialized tools, fixtures, gauges, and infrastructure upgrades. These additions are expected to improve manufacturing accuracy, streamline production processes, and support growing demand from international customers.
With this announcement, GE Aerospace’s total investment in the Pune plant over the past three years has crossed ₹510 crore. The company had earlier invested around ₹410 crore to strengthen automation, manufacturing technology, and component production capabilities for next-generation aviation engines.
The Pune facility currently contributes to the manufacturing of components used in several major engine programmes, including the GE90, GEnx, GE9X, and LEAP engines developed by CFM International.
Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of GE Aerospace’s Pune manufacturing facility, said the continued investment underlines the company’s confidence in India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem and the strategic importance of the Pune unit within GE’s global supply chain network.
He said the expansion is also expected to create additional employment and apprenticeship opportunities while supporting local supplier partners. Over the years, the Pune facility has evolved into a major aerospace manufacturing hub with advanced engineering and precision manufacturing capabilities, he added.
The company said the Pune unit works with more than 300 local suppliers and is connected to a wider network of over 2,200 suppliers across India. The facility manufactures key aircraft engine components used in commercial aviation programmes worldwide.
GE Aerospace also highlighted its workforce development initiatives at the Pune plant. The site runs a structured two-year apprenticeship programme that trains over 500 apprentices annually through classroom sessions and specialised TIG welding courses conducted at its in-house Weld School. Since 2015, more than 5,000 production associates have reportedly received training at the facility.
The company stated that it continues to invest in manufacturing, engineering and skill development initiatives in India as part of its long-term growth strategy in the country.
CFM International is a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines.
