Naga Community Holds Candlelight Vigil in Pune Over Killings in Manipur
Pune, 17th June 2026: Members of the Naga community and students in Pune held a candlelight vigil in Mundhwa on Monday to mourn the killing of Nagas in Manipur and express solidarity with the affected families.
Organised by the Naga Students’ Union Pune (NSUP) at Sportswing in Mundhwa, the gathering drew students, community members, elders and supporters from across the city. Participants lit candles and observed prayers in memory of those killed, while calling for justice and accountability.
In a message read out during the programme, the NSUP leadership expressed grief over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families. The organisation urged authorities to ensure a fair and timely investigation into the incident.
Dr. Widiangliu Nkhamnamai, the President-in-Charge of the Naga Students’ Union Pune addressed the gathering, calling for immediate government intervention and impartial action to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
The prayer service was led by Pastor Meyikumzuk Ozukum of the Naga Christian Fellowship Pune, who prayed for peace, healing and stability in Manipur.
Organisers said the vigil was intended to demonstrate solidarity with the victims’ families and convey the Naga community’s collective demand for justice.
